Teen struck with stray bullet on Fourth of July

A Passaic County teen is recovering Monday after being struck in the head with a stray bullet on the Fourth of July.
The 15-year-old girl was attending a family party on Morse Lake in Bloomingdale. Police believe someone fired a gun into the air and that's when the girl was hit.
"We thought maybe she got hit with a firecracker," says Judy Logio who attended the party. "It was just a bizarre moment."
Bloomingdale police say that while it is illegal, there have been several incidents of people firing weapons into the air to celebrate the holiday.
"It's the silliest, dumbest thing you can possibly do," says Bloomingdale Mayor Johnathan Dunleavy. "I ask that person to have a conscious and turn themselves in so we can put this to rest."
The teen was released from the hospital and is expected to be okay. Bloomingdale police are investigating the incident.
