Police seek boat thief in Belmar

New Jersey State Police are investigating the theft and burglary of a boat from the Irwin Marina in Red Bank.
Police say a man walked into the marina on June 16 just after 6 a.m. and stole a 26-foot boat named "Babycakes."
The boat was found at the Belmar Marina a week later. A fish-finder, GPS, fishing equipment and a television were stolen from the boat.
Police say the suspect is a white man with facial hair who appears to walk with a limp. He may have had a white patch or bandage on his head.
Boat owners at the Belmar Marina say it's best to secure boats when they are left at the marina, such as locking the doors and not leaving keys aboard. The Belmar Marina also has a security gate that only boat owners have access to.
Anyone who may have any information about the theft is urged to contact the state police.
