Police warn against 'gun' cellphone cases

The New Jersey State Police are among several law enforcement departments warning against mobile phone cases that resemble gun handles.

Several pictures have been circulating on the Internet showing that when worn, these phone cases make it look like the person has a gun sticking out of their pocket.

A spokesperson for the New Jersey State Police says people should refrain from using them, in order to prevent a tragic situation.

The department released a statement that said, "Officers do not have the luxury of time when making split-second decisions while interacting with the public. We strongly recommend that you do not use this product both for your own safety and the safety of law enforcement officers."

An Internet search finds several websites that sell these types of cases.
