Volunteers join search for drowning victims
Water search experts say their services are increasingly on demand this summer.
Gerry Boylan of the Garden State Underwater Recovery Unit says volunteers conduct the searches for people lost in New Jersey's waterways.
They use the help of dogs, sonar devices and scuba divers, he says.
Louis Mercado, of Perth Amboy, has been searching for the remains of his son since January.
Ivan Mercado jumped from the Route 9 bridge and has not been found.
The older Mercado has enlisted the aid of Boylan's volunteers. " I have to look back and know that I did everything I can," he says.
