Black bear killed after spotted at Plainfield yard sale

A black bear became an unwanted customer at a yard sale in Plainfield Sunday.

Neighbors along South Avenue called police at around 8:30 a.m. when the bear was spotted in the yard.

Police responded to the call, and say they shot and killed the bear because it posed a risk to the community.

Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera say they felt bad the bear had to be killed, but understand why police took that action.
