74-year-old man dead after house fire in Brick

A 74-year-old man is dead after a fire that destroyed a house on Brower Drive in Brick, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed.

Firefighters arrived at the home just before 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Officials say the man was inside the house when the flames started. Neighbors helped him out of the house, but he was unresponsive. It's unclear if he died due to injuries sustained in the fire or if he had a heart attack.

A woman escaped the home with injuries that were not life-threatening. A pet dog is still missing.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
