Search underway for woman in Raritan River
Authorities are searching for a woman who disappeared early Saturday morning in the Raritan River.
Anjanae Smith, 22, of Newark walked into the river at around 2 a.m. and hasn't been seen since, according to officials. She had been in a park near the Victory Bridge over the water when she became upset with the people she was with. Police say her party lost track of her.
The search started early in the morning. The Coast Guard joined Perth Amboy and state officials at the scene. Officials were also searching the shoreline.
The water was very still and visibility was good. Authorities said they would continue the search Sunday, as long as conditions remained favorable.
A bulletin has been issued to boaters and people in the area to be on the lookout for any trace of Smith.
