Police: Thief arrested after Nutley home break-in

Police have caught a man who they say is responsible for breaking into a Nutley home early Saturday morning.
At around 9:30 a.m., a K-9 unit tracked down the alleged burglar, who was hiding in a backyard on Alexander Avenue, according to police.
Police say that at around 5 a.m., homeowners on Bloomfield Avenue heard a noise coming from the first floor of their home. They went downstairs to discover an intruder in the kitchen. He then fled through a window, police say.
The suspect was found hiding in a bush behind a home on Alexander Avenue after a roughly four-hour manhunt. The Essex County K-9 unit assisted in the search.
Police say they recovered a handbag from the suspect.
