Maplewood police: 2 weapons found at schools

Police in Maplewood are investigating two separate incidents in which students allegedly brought weapons into school.

On Wednesday, Maplewood Middle School was placed on lockdown after school officials learned there was a gun inside the school. The school was under the lockdown for over two hours while officers searched.

A 9mm Glock handgun loaded with hollow point bullets was found. A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged with gun possession and for possessing penetrating bullets.

On Thursday, police say another weapons incident occurred, this time at Columbia High School.

Police say a ninth-grade student was taken into custody after he brought a loaded Air Soft pellet gun and a knife into school.

Maplewood police say the investigation has not revealed any specific threat against any student or staff at the school.
