Text sent to Wall student may have been a mistake

A scary situation in Wall Township may turn out to be an honest mistake.
Parents of Wall Intermediate School were sent a letter Wednesday warning them that someone named "Alaini" had been texting students asking for information.
"Alaini" apparently asked where they went to school and where they lived, and then suggested meeting up at an Applebee's in Wall or at Great Adventure.
However, Wall Township police have now clarified that it was only one student at Wall Intermediate who received a text message, and the person who sent it may not have known they were texting a minor.
"They never did anything inappropriate or anything illegal at this point," says Wall Township Police Chief Robert Brice. "We do want to talk to the subject...At this point it's not a criminal investigation."
Chief Brice said the police should be contacted if any other students received similar messages.
