Brick school bus drivers rally against layoffs

School bus drivers in Brick Township are rallying support in an effort to prevent layoffs.

The Brick Township School District plans to lay off 31 full time drivers next year.

According to the schools superintendent, bus routes will also be consolidated. The move is expected save money for the 2015 - 2016 school budget.

The drivers and union leaders say they will fight the layoffs at Thursday's Board of Education meeting.

The drivers say they also fear 20 more drivers may be reduced to part-time employees as part of the plan.
