Emergency bridge work closes 2 lanes on Route 1 & 9T

Emergency bridge repairs are causing traffic delays on a busy highway in northern New Jersey.

Workers on Thursday closed the right and center lanes on Route 1 & 9T east over the Hackensack River. They need to fix a 6-foot by 3-foot section of bridge deck on the span that links Jersey City with Kearny.

The road is one of the main alternate routes for the Pulaski Skyway rehabilitation.

Repairs are expected to be completed by the afternoon.
