Officer arrested, accused of hindering murder investigation
Authorities say a Jackson police officer has been taken into custody after he interfered in the murder investigation of a man found shot to death at a restaurant.
Prosecutors on Thursday charged Eric Prosniewski with hindering apprehension. He made an initial court appearance Friday and remained jailed on $100,000 bail.
The 45-year-old is accused of giving false, deceptive and misleading information in the investigation of the death of Peyman Sanandaji. The 34-year-old was found shot to death on April 9.
Prosecutors say Prosniewski is friends with one of the two men charged in the killing. The alleged interference happened when he was off-duty.
Authorities didn't say how the officer hindered the investigation. He has been suspended without pay.
Prosniewski's attorney wasn't immediately available to comment on the charges.
