Bridge-Gate legal bill climbs to $7.6M

(AP) - New Jersey taxpayers have now paid about $7.6 million for legal work on behalf of Gov. Chris Christie and his administration in the investigation of traffic jams near the George Washington Bridge.
The Attorney General's Office announced Friday the bills from December through April totaled $311,000.
The state previously paid about $7.3 million, most of it for work on a report on the September 2013 lane closures.
The Gibson and Dunn law firm also helped Christie and his staff respond to subpoenas.
Last week, one former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey official pleaded guilty in the case. Another former official and an ex-Christie aide were charged.
Taxpayers have also paid about $1 million for work on the case by a lawyer for a legislative committee.
