2 new TSA pre-screening centers open in NJ
The Transportation Security Administration has opened two new centers for its Pre-screening Application Program in Middlesex and Union Counties.
The program allows U.S. citizens and permanent residents to pre-enroll in a faster security screening to make going through security at the airport faster and easier.
Once enrolled, passengers do not have to remove their shows, belts or coats when going through security and can leave electronics and liquids in their carry-on bags.
TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein says she hopes it will make air travel easier.
"When you get there at one of the centers, it takes maybe nine to 10 minutes to enroll," she says. "It's a very fast process."
It costs $85 to be pre-screened and it lasts for five years. The new centers are in Edison and Cranford.
