Field Station: Dinosaurs in Secaucus set to close

A popular dinosaur-themed amusement park is set to close at the end of the season to make room for a new high school.

Field Station: Dinosaurs in Secaucus opened in 2012 and quickly became a favorite place for school trips.

However, the lease the park occupies is expiring and the county wants to build a new high school on the property.

The director of the park says he believes the park will be able to move somewhere else.

"We have done a lot of studies on the theories of dinosaur extinction. And lost their lease is not one of them. So we think we can overcome this," says Guy Gsell.

A spokesperson for Hudson County tells News 12 New Jersey that the lease agreement allowed it to take back the land early, with adequate notice.

The county wants to build the school now because of a favorable economic and political environment.
