NJ State Police deployment in Baltimore extended

Gov. Chris Christie has ordered the extension of the deployment of the 150 New Jersey state troopers and personnel currently assisting in Baltimore.
This is in response to a request from the governor of Maryland. The deployment will be extended until Tuesday, May 5 and could be extended further if needed.
The initial deployment request and subsequent extension were made through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, a mutual aid agreement. Under this agreement, all costs associated with the deployment of the New Jersey staff will be covered by the state of Maryland.
New Jersey troopers arrived in Baltimore this Tuesday and have been assisting mainly in enforcing the curfew placed by the mayor of the city.
