Jon Stewart, Junot Diaz up for New Jersey Hall of Fame

The latest New Jersey Hall of Fame nominees run from "Last of the Mohicans" author James Fenimore Cooper to "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart.

The museum announced its nominees Wednesday on its Facebook page.

Voters can pick candidates until June 7.

Besides Stewart, other entertainers include Eddie Murphy, the Isley Brothers, Kool & the Gang, Joe Pesci and composer Nelson Riddle.

Others on the list include nonfiction writer John McPhee, novelist Junot Diaz, writer Fran Lebowitz, former NAACP president Bruce Gordon and the late U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

The sports figures include soccer star Christie Rampone and retired Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who lived in New Jersey as a young child.

The hall is housed in a mobile museum that travels the state.
