Hazardous waste collected in Warren Township

People who were doing some spring cleaning in their garages, basements and cabinets gathered in Warren Township to dispose of unwanted hazardous materials.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office is collecting expired prescription drugs and hazardous materials this weekend for proper disposal.

According to the county, the Somerset County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program gives residents a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash.

The hazardous materials are being collected at the Warren Township Public Works garage located at 1 Bardy Road.

So far, the drive has collected florescent lights, paint, paint thinners and other toxic items.
