Florence Township hostage situation deemed a hoax

Another hostage hoax has been reported, this time in Burlington County.

According to NJ.com, a fake hostage situation happened in the Roebling section of Florence Township.

Police say they responded after receiving reports of a man inside with hostages and an explosive device.

It's the latest in a string of "swatting" incidents reported from around the state.

Officials say "swatting," where callers pretend there is an emergency to prompt a large police response, has become a problem nationwide.
