Attorney for DMX: No robbery occurred
Police in Newark are reviewing security camera video from the Exxon gas station along Route 21 where a man claims rapper DMX robbed him.
The alleged robbery happened early Sunday morning. Newark police say the victim claims Earl "DMX" Simmons was interacting with fans outside the gas station when one of the members of his entourage flashed a gun and demanded money.
The rapper then allegedly snatched $3,200 from the victim before fleeing in a black Escalade.
An attorney for DMX says the rapper took pictures with the victim and his friends before getting into an argument with them, but then left shortly after.
"No guns, no robbery. Why would he rob anybody?" asks attorney Murray Richman. "[DMX] just came from a show which we have been quite successful at. It makes no sense at all."
DMX held a performance at NJPAC Saturday night before the alleged incident occurred.
So far, Newark police have made no arrests.
