Boil water advisory lifted for 3 northern NJ towns

(AP) - Officials have lifted a boil water advisory that was issued for three northern New Jersey towns after a weekend water main break.
New Jersey American Water announced the move Sunday afternoon. It says repairs on the ruptured 24-inch main in Millburn have been completed, and testing showed the water quality to be safe.
The advisory had been in effect for Irvington, Maplewood and Millburn. It was issued Saturday, a few hours after the main had burst Friday night in a residential area of Millburn, near the New Jersey Transit train tracks.
The break sent water flooding into several streets, homes and businesses. It also disrupted train service on the Morris and Essex lines.
The cause of the break remains under investigation.
