The retired superintendent of schools in Wall Township says he would like to be paid the money he's owed.
James Haybel is owed $309,000 for unused sick and vacation time.
Last month, the state Supreme Court ruled that the state can cap sick time payouts to $15,000. Gov. Chris Christie capped superintendent's salaries, which includes a cap on vacation time.
Habel's contract was signed before either of those caps went into effect forcing the Township to come up with the money.
Wall Township officials say he never took any of his vacation time in the 11 years he was superintendent.
