East Rutherford man dies after being struck by lightning

A father from East Rutherford died this afternoon from injuries suffered after being struck by lightning yesterday.

Sebastian Castillo, 41, was fishing on the beach with his son in the Elberon section of Long Branch near Lake Takanassee when he was struck just before 5 p.m.

Just last month, a woman from New York was fatally struck by lightning while walking on the rock wall at Monmouth Beach.

Castillo is the 22nd person in the country to die from lightning strikes this year.
