There will be no more life in the fast lane for New Jersey state troopers.

A newly obtained five-page policy emphasizes public safety when troopers escort vehicles down the highway.

The policy, obtained by The Star-Ledger of Newark, comes after video of troopers leading luxury cars down the Garden State Parkway at speeds over 100 mph went viral.

Two troopers involved in that escort were charged after state prosecutors say they tried to hide their involvement in the escort by using tape to altar their license plates.

The new rules require three supervisors to weigh in before approving escorts. Once approved, troopers have to obey speed limits and traffic laws and avoid passing lanes.
