Students and parents in Passaic County scramble to save bus routes
A controversial decision by Passaic County school officials to cancel a bus route is angering students and parents alike.
Students and their parents packed an auditorium tonight to protest the cancellation of a bus route to Passaic County Technical Institute.
Some students are facing walks of over 2 miles, some through busy city intersections. Parents and students argue that the move is unfair and dangerous.
The school board says new measurements have placed many of the students outside of busing zones. In order to be in compliance, the routes had to be shuffled, and in some cases, canceled.
Despite tonight's turnout, the school board appears to be sticking to its decision to cancel the route.
