Push to increase off-track betting is off and running

A new proposal would set up a pilot program for horse race betting in the Northern part of New Jersey. The program would allow certain restaurants and bars to have off-track wagering.

Rob Erickson, the manager of Rug's and Riffy's in Woodbridge, tells News 12 New Jersey he'd love to have some betting terminals in his sports bar.

Edna Syvertson of Islen tells News 12 New Jersey she is concerned that adding more places to gamble will lead to an increase in addiction.

There will be hearings Thursday in front of state Senate and Assembly panels regarding the proposal.
