Park ranger killed at Mt. Rainier mourned on both coasts
Neighbors and friends of Margaret Anderson, 34, are mourning the Westfield native. The park ranger was gunned down on the job at Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State on New Year's Day.
Anderson graduated from Westfield High School in 1995 and her parents live in Scotch Plains. The park ranger leaves behind two young daughters and a husband, who is also a park ranger. Washington police say the alleged gunman, who was an Iraq war veteran, was found dead by a pilot scouring the area. The gunman is believed to have died of hypothermia.
