Man pleads not guilty in fatal shooting of 2-year-old Newark boy

A man pleaded not guilty this morning in the shooting death of his girlfriend's toddler son in a Newark apartment Friday.

A public defender representing 27-year-old Wakir Bryant entered the plea on his behalf in court in Newark today.

Bryant faces aggravated manslaughter charges in the death of 2-year-old Mikhy Robison.

Prosecutors said Bryant drove Robinson and the child's mother to a nearby hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead. He was arrested later that night.

Investigators have not detailed what they believe led to the shooting.
