Wonder Bar collects donations for pets impacted by Ocean Grove fire

Asbury Park's Wonder Bar is collecting food and donations for the dozens of pets left homeless by a massive fire in Ocean Grove last week.

The fire on March 3 damaged or destroyed seven buildings and displaced over 100 people. The Wonder Bar put out a call for donations for pets soon after the fire.

The event's organizers say that so many people answered the call to help the pets by donating thousands of pounds of dog and cat food, toys, bowls and other pet supplies.

"I'm totally overwhelmed, it's so heartwarming," says Wonder Bar's Debbie Delisa. "The generosity from people, not only in our community but the whole tristate area, has been unbelievable."

Pet owners affected by the fire will be able to pick up the donations Thursday from 12-6 p.m. at the bar.

The Wonder Bar's managers say that any donations that are left over will be given to pet owners affected by a large fire in Union City or local pet charities.
