Police looking for suspect who robbed Perth Amboy gas station wielding knife

Police are looking for the suspect who robbed a Perth Amboy gas station.

It happened this morning around 4 a.m. at the Speedway gas station in the 600 block of Convery Boulevard.

Initial reports said the suspect was wielding a gun, but News 12 New Jersey has now been told by Perth Amboy's mayor office that the weapon was a knife.

News 12 New Jersey was told about the robbery by one of the attendants.

His manager called him and told him not to carry cash. He said no more than a couple thousand could have possibly been taken, but there is no word yet on the exact amount.

Police say they are investigating.
