Police officer shoots, injures person in Paterson

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating an incident in which a police officer shot and injured a person in Paterson.



Officials say the shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Levine and Main streets, close to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.



A spokesperson for the prosecutor's office says that one person was hurt and is receiving medical treatment, but did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the shooting.



There was a large police investigation following the shooting, with investigators going over the scene and the county K9 unit investigating.



Neither the name of the officer involved in the shooting nor the person shot has been released.
