Powerful storm leaves behind damage across NJ

Strong thunderstorms swept across New Jersey Saturday evening, leaving behind damage to homes from strong winds, rains and some hail.

News 12 New Jersey was on Lloyd Road in Toms River where a home took a direct lightning strike. The strike shattered the homeowner's chimney and scattered debris across the property.

No one inside the home was hurt and it never lost power.

However, Space Farms Zoo and Museum in Wantage saw significant damage to its property. One of the museum's building was knocked down by high winds. A Space Farms family member said the building housed the blacksmith shop.

No animals were injured at the zoo.
