Crews battle brush fire in Keyport

Fire crews battled a large brush fire in Keyport on Saturday.

The fire broke out near Henry Hudson Trail and the Garden State Parkway entrance.

The fire prompted the closure of Route 35 in the area. Lanes have since been reopened.

Thick black smoke could be seen for miles and fire crews from surrounding communities were called to help battle the blaze.

By 4 p.m. the fire was mostly out, News 12 was told.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
