East Brunswick police look for attempted child luring suspect after reported incident
Police in East Brunswick are increasing patrols in areas of the town after a recent luring attempt at a bus stop.
The first reported incident was Tuesday at Dunhams Corner Road and Valley Forge Drive. But according to a recent investigation, the suspect in question is a local resident new to the area and was looking for his child's new bus top. Police say he fully cooperated with the investigation, and the incident is no longer considered suspicious.
The second incident happened the following day after 3 p.m. off of Old Stage Road when a driver in a white van offered a child a ride home. The white van had no visible markings and possibly had a New Jersey registration.
The juvenile approached was an East Brunswick public school student.
The district put an alert call out to parents Wednesday night.
The message said all school security officers and bus drivers have been briefed to pay special attention to students until this person is caught.
This incident is still being actively investigated.
