Bayonne man battles Lou Gehrig’s disease

A 31-year-old Bayonne man is battling Lou Gehrig's disease.



Brandon Smith has lived with ALS for the past year and a half.



Physical therapy helps, but simple movements have become more difficult.



Muscle weakness is one of the symptoms of the disease, as is slurred speech, twitches and shortness of breath.



Even though the odds are stacked against him, Smith says he's got a huge team behind him, including his wife of five months.
