Seaside Heights’ Bamboo Bar to hold casting call for potential new reality show
A Jersey Shore bar will be holding an open casting call this weekend for a new reality show series potentially for the Bravo network.
Seaside Heights' Bamboo Bar is holding the casting call Saturday night around 10 p.m. for the potential series called "I Love Summer." The bar says it is looking for loud, fun, expressive, and outgoing men and women for the series. Bar employees and the public will be considered for the bartenders, bouncers, waitresses and DJs on the show that work at Bamboo Bar.
But borough officials say that they have no idea what the casting call is about and will not support "a television series that depicts Seaside Heights in a negative light."
A previous reality series in Seaside Heights, MTV's "Jersey Shore," did not always depict the shore community in a positive light. Cast members were often depicted drunk and getting into fights.
Bamboo Bar's owner says that the new show would have an economy boost for the borough.
"When 'Jersey Shore' was here, visitors came from all over the world and spent money here. We will attract an older crowd," the owner says in a statement.
The owner says the show will be similar to another Bravo show, "Vanderpump Rules," where everybody works in one place.
News 12 New Jersey is told that the producers for the show have not yet secured approval from the borough or filming permits.
Doors for the casting call open at 10 p.m. Saturday at the bar.
