Clifton gas station attendant survives hit-and-run after chasing after man who didn’t pay

A 56-year-old gas station attendant is lucky to be alive after being struck Thursday by a hit-and-run driver. The entire incident was caught on surveillance video.

According to Antilla Tas, the driver of a silver colored car didn't pay his $25 gas tab at the Shell Station on Route 3.

Tas ran onto Route 3 to try and stop the car, but was hit for his efforts. He says the driver stopped for a moment and then took off.

Tas was able to limp away with minor injuries, but took himself to the hospital for evaluation.

He says he's thankful to be alive, and has never done anything like that before.

"I block him just like this," says Tas. "I don't know how I did it. Just what kind of mentality. I block the car it could kill me."

Tas says drivers take off without paying every week.

He also says police believe the plates on the car were fake.
