Overnight fire in Howell destroys large amount of materials; police call suspicious

An overnight fire in Howell destroyed a large amount of materials at a fence company, and police are calling the fire suspicious.

The fire started around 2:30 a.m. today at the Taylor Fence Company off Route 33 in Howell.

A first responder described it as a bonfire.

No word just yet on the amount of damage or how much all of the lost pieces of wood and fencing are worth, but the fencing was stacked on pallets about 30 feet by 30 feet and about 20 feet high.

There were no major injuries, just a firefighter who twisted an ankle.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
