Report: Paterson Eastside HS basketball coach housed int'l players

Paterson Eastside High School cruised to a win in the first round of the Passaic County tournament despite an investigation into eligibility issues.

The investigation was sparked by an NJ.com report about the team's head coach, Juan Griles, housing international players.

According to the report, six international players are living in a two-bedroom condo owned by Griles. One player complained of barely eating enough. The players list either Griles or his assistant as their legal guardian in the district database.

Griles and his assistant have since been suspended.

Shaniqua Bacote, an assistant on the team, will take over as head coach for the remainder of the season.
