Perth Amboy church volunteer accused of inappropriately touching teen

A Perth Amboy church volunteer was charged for inappropriately touching a 16-year-old church member, according to prosecutors.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office says Luis Felipe Batista, 21, improperly touched the boy on numerous occasions at the Holy Trinity Church during the fall of 2015. Batista was 19 at the time of the alleged incidents.

Batista was an unpaid hall monitor during CCD classes at the parish for more than five years.

He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He was released from custody after he was served the summons.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and that anyone who might have more information about the case should call Perth Amboy police at 732-442-4400 or the prosecutor at 732-745-4194.
