2 firefighters injured battling Paterson blaze

Two firefighters were hurt in Paterson while fighting a two-alarm house fire.

The fire started around 2:30 p.m. at a home on East 37th Street.

Officials say the firefighters had to escape the home though a first-floor window as the flames spread.

One firefighter suffered a fractured clavicle and the other sprained a knee and was burned. Both were hospitalized, but are expected to be OK.

The American Red Cross helped nine people who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
