Man dead after hunting accident in Berkeley Township

Police are investigating what appears to be a deadly hunting accident this weekend that left a man dead.



It happened Saturday just before 9 a.m. in the area of Locker Street in Berkeley Township.



According to police, Richard Pereira, 26, of Barnegat, was fatally shot while deer hunting.



Pereira was on a hunting trip with his father and two friends when one of them fired his shotgun and hit him.



He was found dead when police arrived.



No charges have been filed at this time.
