Residents petition state to declare Wall Township’s Circus Drive-in a historical site

More than 1,000 people have signed a petition asking for Wall Township's Circus Drive-in to be declared a historic property.

Many say the restaurant is a summer-staple in Monmouth County, but the owners have put the property up for sale.

The realtor says that a buyer has put in an offer and contracts are in progress. Fans of the drive-in want don't want to see it torn down.

"I think it's really important for locals because it's the sign summer's coming when it opens," says former assistant manager Samantha Kelly. "A lot of people from all over the country have messaged me and told me their stories about visiting here in the summer months so it means a lot to a lot of people."

The Circus Drive-in went on the market late last year. It is listed for $2 million.
