15 veterans receive New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal at Quakerbridge Mall

Fifteen New Jersey veterans received service medals Tuesday as part of a ceremony to mark the opening of the veterans outreach kiosk at the Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrenceville.

The veterans received the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal as well as other state military awards at the ceremony.

The New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal was originally issued in 1858 for those who distinguished themselves in the New Jersey militia.

The outreach kiosk is a place where veterans and their families can learn about benefits and entitlements that they are eligible to receive. It will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day at the mall.
