Water service returns to Grand Street in Jersey City after main break

Dozens of families in a Jersey City neighborhood have water once again now that repairs have been made to a 6-inch main that broke overnight.

SUEZ Water says the broken main on Grand Street was repaired around 8 p.m. Thursday. The main broke just before midnight, causing police to have to block the street around Marin Boulevard.

The break caused the road to buckle and traffic issues during the morning commute.

Water officials say that because of the amount of water in the work area, it took a long time to make repairs.

A boil water advisory was not issued during the break.
