Shooting leaves pregnant woman, 2 men dead in Jersey City

A pregnant mother and two other men were gunned down in Jersey City Monday evening, and police are on the lookout for possible suspects.

A spokesman for the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office says police were called to the area of 101 Fulton Ave. around 10 p.m. for reports of gunfire.

Police say the arriving officers found 31-year-old Quadel Chisolm suffering from a gunshot wound in his chest.

The officers then went inside an apartment where they found two more gunshot victims. They were identified as Ishear Bailey, 26, and Janaya Lee, 25. Both were shot in the chest, according to the prosecutor. All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Family friends tell News 12 New Jersey that Janaya Lee was seven months pregnant with her second child.

A motive for the shooting was not released by the prosecutor, but sources tell News 12 New Jersey that the shooting may have stemmed from a drug deal gone bad.

Anyone who may have information about the shooting is asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor's office at 201-915-1345. An anonymous tip can also be left at the prosecutor's website.
