Bergen County law enforcement officials are looking for a suspect who allegedly assaulted a bank teller and stole nearly $4,000.

Little Ferry police say the suspect walked into the TD Bank on Main Street Sunday afternoon, told the teller he had a weapon and demanded money. When the teller hesitated, police say the robber reached across the counter, grabbed her by the shirt and forcibly took the money from her hand.

Police say the thief got away with $3,900.

The suspect is described as a white man who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He appeared to be in his 20s and had facial hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, work boots and a dark gray wool hat at the time.

Anyone who may recognize him is asked to contact Little Ferry police at 201-641-2770.
