Police take man into custody following standoff in Point Pleasant Beach

Police in Ocean County have taken a man into custody who was allegedly holed up in his home with a gun and refused to come out.

Point Pleasant Beach police were called to the Atlantic Avenue home around 11 a.m. after reports that the man had barricaded himself inside the home.

Atlantic Avenue between Bay Street and Route 35 was closed as a precaution and the Ocean County SWAT team was brought in.

The man peacefully surrendered after about three hours and police were taking him to the hospital to be checked out.

It was not immediately known if he would be facing any charges.
