15 children taken to hospital following school bus crash in East Brunswick
More than a dozen children were taken to the emergency room when their school bus collided with a commuter bus in East Brunswick.
The crash happened on Route 18 near Eggers Street Monday afternoon. Police tell News 12 New Jersey the school bus was headed to Netivot Montessori, a Jewish day school in East Brunswick, when it rear-ended a New Jersey Transit commuter bus that was operated by the Academy Bus Company.
All 15 children on board the bus were also taken to the emergency room as a precaution. A 4-year-old seated in the front of the bus suffered a broken leg and cuts, and another child was held at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for some tests.
Four people on the commuter bus also suffered some minor injuries, according to police.
East Brunswick Police Sgt. Wade Gordon tells News 12 that the driver of the school bus was changing lanes and didn't see that the commuter bus had stopped. Neither bus driver was injured.
Police say so far no charges have been filed.
Both Netivot Montessori and school bus owner Kensington Bus Company declined to comment on the incident.
